We are currently looking for a talented Assistant Sustainable Development Officer to join our dynamic team, which will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the company’s sustainable development (SD) strategy at our diverse portfolio of properties. SD is central to our business philosophy and company culture. In 2024, Swire Properties obtained the top position globally in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) 2024 in the Real Estate Management & Development Industry category, reaching its SD 2030 Vision, of becoming a global leader in sustainability performance in the real estate industry, six years ahead. This accomplishment reflects the effectiveness of the Company’s SD 2030 Strategy and the successful integration of sustainability into every facet of its business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the review of the Company’s sustainability performance via ESG data management, periodic analysis and regular stakeholder engagement processes to identify opportunities for improvement
- Support the publication of Swire Properties’ annual SD / ESG report as well as provide support on meeting internal and external reporting requirements
- Support the implementation of bespoke circular economy projects and tenant engagement initiatives such as the Green Performance Pledge and the Green Kitchen Initiative, as well as the engagement of supply chain partners
- Plan and execute engagement activities for staff, tenants, residents, suppliers, NGOs and the community to support our SD strategy
- Conduct research to identify new opportunities in order to drive continuous improvement in all five pillars of our SD strategy, performance and communication
- Facilitate and provide technical and training support to business units/cross-departmental groups to ensure agreed SD action plans and commitments are being delivered
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree holder in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent
- At least 1-2 years of experience in sustainability or environmental-related work
- A strong relationship builder who is solutions-oriented
- Active learner who finds learnings from experimentation and both successes and failures
- Excellent communicator who can clearly and effectively communicate to diverse groups of audiences
- Knowledgeable in relevant Hong Kong and PRC laws and requirements related to sustainability, ESG reporting and the environment
- Independent, well-organized, tech-savvy and self-motivated team player
- Proficiency in spoken and written English, Cantonese and Putonghua
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
